Sunday family breakfasts offered by Odenton club

Get mom out of the kitchen one Sunday morning a month and treat the family to breakfast at the Knights of Columbus, Archbishop Francis P. Keough Council hall in Odenton.

From 8 a.m. till noon on the second Sunday of every month, council members will serve up a menu of eggs made to order, omelets, pancakes, ham, sausage, hashed brown potatoes, gravy on biscuits, toast, orange juice and coffee.

The club is at 1381 Becknell Ave. in Odenton. The cost for adults is $3.50 and for children under 12, $2.50.

* The council and St. Joseph's Church in Odenton are sponsoring a bus trip to Washington for the annual March for Life on Jan. 23. The bus will leave St. Joseph's parking lot at 10 a.m. and return around 4 p.m.

The ride from Odenton to RFK Stadium is free. There will be a $2 round-trip fare for the shuttle bus that will run between RFK and the Smithsonian Metro stop near the Ellipse, the open area by the White House, where ceremonies will be held before the march up Constitution Avenue to Capitol Hill and the Supreme Court.

* The Odenton council also will sponsor the second annual K of C Basketball Free Throw Championship. This event will take place from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday at Arundel Middle School.

Gambrills Odenton Recreation Council will hold registration for boy's and girl's lacrosse, and early registration for baseball, softball, spring soccer and T-ball.

The registration will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday at Arundel Middle School, 1179 Hammond Lane in Odenton.

The cost is $35 for one child in a family, $10 for the second and $5 for each additional child.

The West Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce will again play host to Community Networking Night on March 21 at the Odenton Fire Hall on Route 175.

Area organizations are invited to set up displays and give three-minute presentations about their purpose and activities. Last year, 19 organizations participated.

To ensure the success of the next event, representatives from those organizations and other interested people are being invited to help arrange this year's event.

The organizational meeting will be held at 7:30 p.m., tomorrow night at Odenton Elementary School. The format and ideas to promote the event will be discussed.

The O'Malley Senior Center will sponsor a financial seminar on personal estate planning and revocable living trusts from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., Thursday.

Presenters for this program will be John Gideon, Merill Lynch financial consultant, and lawyers John F. Roberts and Raymond Van Sweringen of Annapolis.

Topics to be discussed will be probate, conservatorship, retirement and estate planning, federal estate tax savings, managing money in a living trust, and how to plan an effective personal estate.
