Dobbin, Twin Rivers roads join snow emergency routes

January 10, 1995

Howard County Bureau of Highways has added two roads to the nearly 50 snow emergency routes in the county.

The roads are Dobbin Road from Route 175 to Oakland Mills Road and Twin Rivers Road from Harpers Farm Road to Governor Warfield Parkway, both in Columbia.

When the snow emergency plan is in effect, parking is forbidden along the routes and vehicles must have snow tires.

Andy Daneker, chief of the highways bureau, said effective snow removal requires drivers to park their cars in driveways instead of along streets.

If a plow cannot get through because of parked cars, he said, it will skip the street and return later.

Motorists concerned about area road conditions may call 313-2900 to hear a recording regularly updated during inclement weather by the Bureau of Highways.

The Bureau of Highways reminds motorists to obey parking restrictions on all roads, including dead-ends, and they must yield the right of way to snow plows and emergency vehicles.

For more information, call the bureau at 313-7450.
