BALTIMORE CITY

* SHOOTING: Northern District -- A 30-year-old Bel Air man was shot in the hip and chest in an apparent robbery attempt as he stopped his car near Charles and 27th streets early yesterday. The victim tried to flee from the gunman, and hit two parked vehicles a block away. He was in serious condition at the Maryland Shock Trauma Center.

* ARMED ROBBERY Eastern District -- A 41-year-old man was robbed by a gunman while standing at a pay phone in the 1100 block of Harford Ave. about 6:30 a.m. yesterday. A gold ring worth $460 and $20 were taken.

* ARMED ROBBERY: Eastern District -- A 35-year-old woman was robbed of her book bag by a gunman at a bus stop in the 1300 block of N. Patterson Park Ave. yesterday morning. The woman lost her makeup kit, shoes and a book.

* BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- Someone broke into a home in the 6100 block of Fairdel Ave. sometime between 5 p.m. Friday and 2 p.m. yesterday and stole over $550 worth of video games and equipment.

* ARMED ROBBERY: Northwestern District -- A man armed with a semiautomatic handgun robbed a woman of her purse as she walked in the 3900 block of Bartwood Road about 7 p.m. Saturday.

* BURGLARY: Northwestern District -- Someone broke into the Greenspring Valley Synagogue in the 6200 block of Pimlico Road through a classroom window and stole a television set and VCR sometime between 6:45 p.m. Saturday and 8:20 a.m. yesterday.

BALTIMORE COUNTY

* ROBBERY: Towson Precinct -- A woman said she was robbed of two rings, one worth $650, by two men wearing ski masks who approached her as she was walking on Taylor Avenue at Hillsway Avenue about 4 a.m. yesterday.

* BURGLARY: Parkville Precinct -- A man who broke into a home in the 1800 block of Wycliffe Road about 7:30 p.m. yesterday escaped with a carton of cigarettes when an officer with a K-9 dog interrupted the crime.

* BURGLARY: Parkville Precinct -- Welding equipment of undetermined value was stolen from the maintenance shop of the Lowell Ridge Apartments on Spindrift Circle sometime between Friday night and 7:40 a.m. yesterday.
