CORAOPOLIS, Pa. -- Mount St. Mary's coach Jim Phelan became just the seventh college coach in history to accumulate 725 wins as the Mountaineers defeated Robert Morris, 94-77, in a Northeast Conference game last night.

The victory moved Phelan past longtime DePaul coach Ray Meyer, who had 724 victories.

Chris McGuthrie had 17 points in the second half to finish with a game-high 24. Jeff Balistrere scored a career-high 16. It is the first time the Mountaineers (5-6) have gone 3-0 in the Northeast.

The Colonials (2-8, 0-3), who are off to their worst start in 18 years, cut a 10-point halftime disadvantage to eight early in the second half before the Mountaineers went on a 17-4 run to pull away.

Damien Delts led Robert Morris with 16 points and 13 rebounds.
