* Four men were arrested at the Ellicott City Pool Room and charged with shooting dice. One of the four -- the manager of the pool room -- was also charged with operating a gaming table.

* Stockholders' meetings were held by county banks this week. Two Ellicott City institutions elected new presidents. Benjamin Mellor Jr. was elected president of Patapsco National Bank, and Herbert H. Cross was elected president of Commercial & Farmers Bank.
