BALTIMORE -- The body of an unidentified black woman, reportedly beaten to death, was found yesterday inside a vacant house in the 1200 block of N. Central Ave., police said.

The woman was found by a construction worker.

Police said the exact cause of death was not known yesterday and that an autopsy was to be held today.

The body also was to be fingerprinted in an effort to identify her.

Missing person reports also were being examined to see if she fits the description of anyone reported missing.

Police said a preliminary examination at the scene indicated the woman appeared to have been beaten about the head with a blunt object and that she had been dead for several days.
