The Citizens for Adequate Services in North Carroll is "just an informal group that started out worrying about overcrowding in schools and came up with a whole bunch of concerns," says Steve Holland, who's lived in the Robert's Field community of Hampstead for about four years.

He and about 20 residents express concerns about growth and services at public meetings and through letter-writing campaigns. They recently gave the ad hoc group a name, hoping to draw more residents into action.

Group members have always paid for letter-writing campaigns to County Commissioners, town officials or to the county school board. But now they've organized a fund-raising dance.

A disc jockey will provide music from 8 p.m. to midnight Saturday at Hampstead Fire Hall. The dance is "BYOB," with soda and snacks provided. Tickets are $15 in advance or at the door.

Information and tickets: Steve Holland, 239-2384, Patty Koch, 374-5982.

The Carroll Promenaders, a modern western square dance club, will have a Flashlight Dance from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday at North Carroll High School, 3801 Hampstead-Mexico Road.

The cost is $6 per couple and $3 for singles. All who enjoy square dancing or want to learn are welcome.

Information: 374-6353 or 374-6158.

Faith Baptist Church will sponsor a gospel concert featuring the Christian Troupers at 7 p.m. Sunday.

A free-will offering will be taken to support the musical ministry.

The church is at 1340 Main St., Hampstead. Parking is available on Main Street and at the Hampstead municipal parking lot.

Information: 374-5933.
