College offers piano classes for adults

We have successfully made the transition to a new year and there's a great deal out there for us to involve ourselves with in Central Carroll County starting this week.

I don't know about you, but I have vowed that this year -- just as I do every year -- will be the best yet.

Check out this week's column. Maybe listed among the activities you will find something to interest you or someone you know.

If you or someone you know is a budding Liberace, check out the noncredit class piano course for adults and seniors at Carroll Community College this winter.

Seniors can take the 12-session course for $20; everyone else pays $58 for the course plus materials.

These courses will be offered this winter at Carroll Community College on Washington Road in Westminster.

Class Piano For Adults: Beginner, will be from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Wednesdays, Feb. 8 to May 3.

Class Piano For Adults: Continuing, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. or from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Thursdays, Feb. 9 to May 4.

Class Piano For Adults: Continuing and Beginner, from 11 a.m. to noon Thursdays, Feb. 9 to May 4.

The Central Maryland Red Cross is accepting preregistration for its cardiopulmonary resuscitation and first aid courses at Carroll County Emergency Operations Center on Washington Road in Westminster this month.

A course on Community CPR will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Jan. 21. The cost is $32.

An adult CPR course will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Jan. 21. The cost is $28.

A course on Community First Aid and Safety will be held from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Jan. 21. The cost is $38.

The Westminster branch of the Carroll County Public Library will begin taking registration for story time programs Monday.

Story times for various ages will begin during the week of Jan. 25.

Preschool story time sessions for ages 3 through 5 are scheduled for Tuesdays at 9:45 a.m., 11 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. and also Wednesdays at 9:45 a.m. and 11 a.m.

Toddler story time sessions for age 2 accompanied by an adult will meet Wednesdays at 7 p.m. and Thursdays at 9:45 a.m., 10:30 a.m. and 11:15 a.m.

Infant story time for ages up to 24 months accompanied by an adult are scheduled for Fridays at 9:45 a.m., 10:30 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. All story time sessions will run for seven weeks.

A different topic will be discussed and explored each week.

Preregistration is required.
