25 Years Ago (Week of Dec. 21-27, 1969):

* It was announced that ITT Electrophysics Laboratories, Inc. would build its U.S. headquarters in Columbia. The subsidiary of International Telephone and Telegraph Corporation planned to locate in a 90,000-square foot facility in the Oakland Ridge Industrial Center.

* Mr. and Mrs. Wilmer W. Wheeler of Frederick Road enjoyed a holiday visit from one of their sons, Seaman Ronald E. Wheeler, USN. Another son, Cpl. Gary W. Wheeler, USMC, was stationed in Okinawa and unable to be home for the holidays.

50 Years Ago (Week of Dec. 24-30, 1944):

* Howard County residents far exceeded the goal set for the 6xth War Loan Drive. The county's quota had been $275,000 in government bonds, but countians had purchased a grand total of $433,649.50 worth by the close of the campaign.
