A series of festive events gets year off to a good start

Happy New Year. This is a good time to sit back and take a look at some of the fun-filled activities that you might be interested in attending in the area during the next three months. There's something for almost every interest and pocketbook, so have fun, and I'm sure I'll see you around town.

JANUARY:

7: The Baltimore Rotary Club's 75th annual Oyster Roast, noon to 4 p.m. at the Cow Palace at Timonium Fairgrounds. Tickets are $30.Call (410) 727-3664.

10: The American Institute of Wine & Food 1995 cooking series, "Sun Drenched Cuisines," with chefs Stephen Letizia, Rick Forry, Gino Troia and Allison Dugdale, 7:30 p.m. at the Towson Sheraton. 14: Fifth Annual Heartfest benefit for Johns Hopkins Ciccarone Center for the Prevention of Heart Disease, 7 p.m. at Sheraton Inner Harbor. Heart-healthy food prepared by chefs from area restaurants. Tickets are $50. Call (410) 879-1759.

15: The Snow Ball benefit for the Patrick Hart Foundation for Tuberous Sclerosis research and the Harford County Exchange Club Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse, 7:30 p.m.-midnight at Harford Mall.
