Man held in bank robbery suspected in second case

December 22, 1994

County police arrested a Heritage Harbour man Tuesday afternoon on charges that he robbed a Severna Park bank. Police think the suspect also robbed a Heritage Harbour bank earlier in the day.

The suspect was arrested at Ritchie Highway and College Parkway shortly after the 1 p.m. robbery of a Loyola Federal Savings bank in the 500 block of Ritchie Highway, police said.

Joseph Campbell, a 44-year-old retired Anne Arundel county police officer, called police on his car phone and gave officers a description of the suspect's car, an Oldsmobile Cutlass with Delaware tags. Mr. Campbell was a customer in the bank at the time of the robbery, police said.

A man fitting the suspect's description had robbed Farmers National Bank in the 800 block of Compass Way shortly before 11 a.m. That suspect dropped the money after a dye pack exploded inside the bag, police said.

Roland Steven Ridgeway, 35, of the 100 block of Second St., was charged with two counts of robbery, police said.
