Fordham spills UMBC, 64-42

Denise Hammersley had 16 points and six assists and Suzanne Maguire scored 15 points, leading Fordham over UMBC, 64-42, in a women's college basketball game last night in New York.

Fordham (1-1) built a 30-18 halftime margin as the Retrievers (0-3) shot 6-for-19 in the half. Kelly Fitzpatrick had 12 points and nine rebounds for Fordham.

Eunice French scored 15 points and pulled down 13 rebounds for the Retrievers, who were 15-for-48 from the field for the game. Tori Moten contributed nine points.

* Franklin & Marshall 66, Washington College 62: Sophomore Mika Lugue and freshman Angel Paternostro keyed a second-half rally as host Franklin & Marshall outscored Washington College (1-3, 0-1) 14-2 in the final 2:46 in a Centennial Conference League game in Lancaster, Pa.

Lugue scored six of her 13 and Paternostro added four of her 17 during the game-winning stretch. Deanna Bergondo also paced the Diplomats (3-1, 2-0) with 17.

Allison Wentworth (Old Mill) led all scorers with 18 points and pulled down a team-leading 13 rebounds. Eboni Taylor contributed 16 for Washington College.

* Johns Hopkins 92, Bryn Mawr 35: Amy Dodrill scored 22 points and Karen Hoffman added 18, leading visiting Johns Hopkins (3-1, 1-1) past Bryn Mawr (0-2, 0-2) in a Centennial Conference game.

Robyn Runge contributed with 12 points and five rebounds for Johns Hopkins. Erika Finanger led Bryn Mawr with 12 points.
