Western Union retiree

Francis Peter Shunney, a retired Western Union International manager, died Thursday of a heart attack at his home in New Carrollton. He was 69.

Services were to be held at 7 p.m. today at Gasch's Funeral Home, 4739 Baltimore Ave., Hyattsville.

Mr. Shunney is survived by his second wife, the former Beatriz Molfino; three sons, Michael Shunney of Berkley Springs, W.Va., Christopher Shunney of New Carrollton and Timothy Shunney of Lynn, Ind.; a daughter, Stephanie Riggs of Columbia; a stepson, Daniel Molfino of Germantown; 16 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Leo F. Kreafle

City firefighter

Leo F. Kreafle, a retired Baltimore firefighter, died Wednesday of pneumonia at Anne Arundel Medical Center. The Stevensville resident was 93.

He retired from No. 32 Engine on Gay Street in 1968 as a pump operator after a 33-year career.

He was reared in the Homestead section of Baltimore near Clifton Park and attended city schools. He made his home for many years in Ednor Gardens and later Parkville before moving to Stevensville eight years ago.

In 1925, he married the former Mary Whalen, who died in 1981.

A Mass of Christian burial was to be offered at 9 a.m. today at St. Ursula's Roman Catholic Church, 8801 Harford Road, Parkville, with interment in New Cathedral Cemetery.

He is survived by a daughter, Mary Lee Steadman of Kent Island; a brother, George Kreafle of Shawnee, Okla.; and several nephews and nieces.
