PERRY HALL -- A 73-year-old Perry Hall man died yesterday after suffering a heart attack while driving at the intersection of Ebenezer and Belair roads, police said.

William Joseph Schafer, of the 4100 block of Walter Ave., was turning right from Ebenezer Road onto northbound Belair Road shortly before 4 p.m. when he suffered a heart attack and his Oldsmobile 98 "slowly drifted" into a car stopped for a red light on southbound Belair Road, according to Officer Christopher K. Parr, a traffic investigator.

Mr. Schafer, who was alone, was pronounced dead at 5:30 p.m. at Franklin Square Hospital, Officer Parr said. No other injuries were reported.
