Senior center to hold program on fibromyalgia

The O'Malley Senior Center, 1275 Odenton Road in Odenton, is sponsoring a program on fibromyalgia from 11 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. today. Jan Thompson and Esther Lang of the Southern Maryland Chapter of the Arthritis Foundation will explain this arthritis-related disease and how it is often misdiagnosed and misunderstood.

The cause of the disease is unknown, but help is available to ease the painful symptoms, which are chronic muscle pain, sleep problems and fatigue. For more information on the program or the senior center, call (410) 222-6227 or (410) 621-9515.

"Christmas at the Farm," a gala farmers market and craft fair will be held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Dec. 2 and Dec. 9. at the Piney Orchard Community Center, 2400 Stream Valley Road in Odenton. For information, call (410) 672-4273.

Arundel Senior High School's auditorium will be the setting for a briefing for parents on service learning and other graduation requirements. The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Dec. 8. The service learning requirement is implemented in grades six through 10 in Anne Arundel County schools, with an introduction in grades four and five. A question-and-answer period will complete the program. Dr. Dennis G. Younger, executive director of curriculum, will lead the discussion. All parents of the Arundel Senior High cluster are invited.

The Epiphany Episcopal Church, 1419 Odenton Road in Odenton, would like to welcome everyone to its Christmas Bazaar, which will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 3. The church will have an English tea room open during the bazaar and delicious bake sale items. A cookbook filled with tasty recipes will be sold. Also on sale will be 1-pound bags of pecan halves for $5.50. This is the pecan sale's 27th year. Many other items will be on sale, such as crafts, jewelry, white elephant items, Christmas items, Jerusalem items and Guatemalan and El Salvador handcrafted items. The West Anne Arundel Chamber of Commerce, 8373 Piney Orchard Road in Odenton, is sponsoring a joint holiday business mixer with the Greater Crofton Chamber of Commerce from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Dec. 8 at the Walden Golf Club, 1500 Reidel Road in Crofton.
