Man is killed in collision at Rtes. 29 and 175

A New York man was killed in Columbia on Friday when he lost control of his car while entering northbound U.S. Route 29 and it was struck by another vehicle, Howard County police said.

Murray Marlow of Massapequa Park was pronounced dead at Howard County General Hospital late Friday afternoon.

According to police, Mr. Marlow was attempting to enter northbound Route 29 from the westbound ramp of Route 175 about 2:30 p.m. when he lost control of his 1989 Plymouth in the rain and it was struck by a 1995 Toyota traveling north on Route 29.

The driver of the Toyota, Daniel Slizys of Columbia, was also taken to Howard County General Hospital, where he was listed yesterday in serious but stable condition.

Police are still investigating the accident.
