St. Philip Neri Market Day is fund-raising food co-op

If you are looking for high-quality food at reasonable prices, quick meals for families on the go and holiday gifts for friends or business associates, try Market Day at St. Philip Neri School.

Market Day is a monthly fund-raising food co-op with products at competitive prices. Customers receive a monthly order sheet, which they fill out and return to St. Philip's school. The orders may be picked up on the designated Market Day.

Order forms will be available after Nov. 29 and must be returned by Dec. 5. Pickup day will be Dec. 19.

You can order lean meats, seafood, poultry, fruit, fresh and frozen vegetables, deli and dairy products, entrees, snacks and much more. Specials are offered each month.

Personal checks, cash and Independence cards may be used to pay for your purchases. Gift certificates are available with Visa or MasterCard.

Tomorrow is pickup day for November.

Holiday specials will be on display.

This week we celebrate one of our favorite holidays, Thanksgiving. Here is a schedule of services and activities at community churches:

St. John Lutheran, 300 West Maple Road, is holding its annual Thanksgiving service at 10 a.m. Thursday.

Peace Lutheran, Ferndale United Methodist Church and Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer congregations are gathering for an interfaith Thanksgiving service at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Ferndale United Methodist, 117 Ferndale Road.

Combined choirs will be under the direction of Virginia Shiflett of Ferndale United Methodist, Sharon Smith of Peace Lutheran and Cindy Berger of Church of Our Redeemer.

The service will consist of Scripture, music, slides and Communion. Bring canned goods and an offering for the North County Emergency Outreach Network.

Everyone is invited for fellowship and refreshments in the hall after the service.

Greeters and acolytes will be the Rev. Mark Chavez of Peace Lutheran, the Rev. Alan Traher of Church of Our Redeemer and the Rev. Susan Duchesneau of Ferndale United Methodist.

St. Philip Neri Catholic Church will celebrate Thanksgiving with a 9:30 a.m. Mass Thursday at the church, 6405 Orchard Road. Those attending are invited to bring a donation of food for the poor.

Fellowship Baptist Church of Ferndale will hold a Thanksgiving Eve service at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Ferndale-Linthicum Senior Citizen Center, 7205 Baltimore & Annapolis Blvd. A film, "Seeds for the Harvest," will be shown.

Linthicum Baptist Church, 611 S. Camp Meade Road, is having a service at 10 a.m. Thanksgiving Day. Canned vegetables will be accepted as donations to the Helping Up Mission in Baltimore.

Linthicum Heights United Methodist Church, 200 School Lane, will hold a Thanksgiving service at 10 a.m. Thursday. Donations of nonperishable food for the poor are needed to replenish the church's pantry.

St. Christopher's Episcopal Church, 118 Marydell Road, will have a service at 9 a.m. Thursday. Canned goods for the needy will be collected and distributed to various organizations.


Busy this week? Take the family out to dinner tomorrow. The St. Philip Neri Home School Association is sponsoring a Burger King Night from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the restaurant, 718 Nursery Road. A percentage of the proceeds will benefit the school.
