Man accused of trying to steal baby undergarments

November 16, 1994

A Baltimore man was arrested Monday afternoon after trying to steal more than $500 worth of baby undergarments from a McCrory's in the Cromwell Field Shopping Center, police said.

About 3 p.m., a store employee stopped a man who had stuffed 42 packs of baby clothes into his jacket and tried to leave the store in the 7300 block of Baltimore-Annapolis Blvd., police said.

The man dropped the jacket, ran to the North Linthicum light rail stop and boarded a northbound train, police said.

Officer Charles Knight was working the light rail detail when he heard a radio report about the suspect.

Officer Knight checked the train and found a man fitting the suspect's description, police said. He ordered the suspect off the train, and a McCrory's employee identified the man.

Kenneth McClary, 26, of the 1100 block of N. Monroe St., was charged with theft over $300, police said. A computer check revealed that he was wanted for theft in Baltimore and for failure to appear in Anne Arundel County, police said.
