Store employee escapes abductors

November 15, 1994

A 27-year-old Cooksville man told Howard County Police that he jumped from a speeding car on Interstate 70 to escape three men who kidnapped and robbed him as he closed a liquor store early Saturday morning.

Banlueyot Ksowsuwan of the 14600 block of Frederick Road managed to avoid serious injury, ending his abduction with abrasions to his left temple and lower lip, police said.

About 12:15 a.m., Mr. Ksowsuwan was closing the Chick's Carry-Out liquor store in the 14600 block of Frederick Road when he went outside to the parking lot and asked people to leave. Once outside the store, he was forced into the back of a white four-door sedan occupied by three men, police said.

As the car drove off, Mr. Ksowsuwan told police the driver pointed a handgun at him while the other two beat him, demanded money and took $300. The victim managed to free himself and lunged out of the car, which was last seen heading east on I-70.

Mr. Ksowsuwan ran to an exhibit hall at the Howard County Fairgrounds, where he contacted a security guard. Paramedics treated him for minor injuries.
