CANTON, Ohio -- Marcello Carrera had a two-point goal and two assists to pace the Canton Invaders over the Baltimore Spirit, 13-4, for their first win of the season.

The Invaders (1-4) jumped out to a 7-2 halftime lead on goals by Willis Files, Doug Swanson and John Dugan. Carrera opened the fourth quarter with an unassisted goal and goalkeeper Chris Damico had the final score with 55 seconds left by throwing the ball the length of the field.

"We not only put more things together, but we were able to maintain our intensity for the full hour," Canton coach Denzil Anonio said.

Damico recorded 20 saves as the Spirit outshot Canton, 45-34.

The Spirit (5-2) were without forward Jon Parry and goalkeeper Cris Vaccaro, who sat out with injuries. Backup Joe Mallia made 14 saves.
