Seattle Mariners -- Named Orlando Gomez manager, Bryan Price pitching coach, Roger Hansen coach and Spyder Webb trainer of Single-A Everett.

Miami Heat -- Extended the contract of G Bimbo Coles.

Orlando Magic -- Extended the contract of coach Brian Hill.

Italian League -- F Orlando Woolridge signed a one-year contract with Benetton Treviso.

College

Big East Conference -- Syracuse was voted No. 1 and Georgetown No. 2 in the league's annual preseason coaches' poll. Syracuse G Lawrence Moten was voted Preseason Player of the Year and St. John's G Felipe Lopez was picked Preseason Rookie of the Year.

NCAA -- Announced G Bryant Notree is eligible to play basketball for Illinois this season.

Gallaudet -- Announced that the contract of football coach Geoffrey Ciniero will not be renewed for 1995.

Massachusetts -- Named Greg Cannella men's lacrosse coach.

Navy -- Mike Wall (Cincinnati Oak Hills) signed a national letter of intent.

Notre Dame -- Announced WR Michael Miller has dropped out of school.

Slippery Rock -- Named Bob Rhoads interim men's basketball coach.

Western Maryland -- Five former athletes will be inducted into the college's Sports Hall of Fame on Saturday -- Denise Frech (class of 1983; swimming, softball), Richard Klitzberg (1963; basketball), David Martin (1962; basketball and tennis), Vernon Mummert (1975; soccer and lacrosse) and the late Clifford Lathrop (1937; football, basketball and baseball).
