MARDELA -- A 40-year-old Mardela woman died yesterday afternoon after being struck by a car while riding a bike on U.S. 50 a short distance from her home, state police said.

The woman, Marjorie Gail Sinagra, of the 200 block of Station St., was riding a bike on the westbound shoulder of the highway near Branch Street around 2:30 p.m. when she entered the travel portion of the roadway and was hit by a 1993 Mazda 626 driven by Michael J. Eusebio, 38, of the 2700 block of Heritage St. in Salisbury.

The biker, who police said had been drinking, was taken by ambulance to the Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury, where she died. The driver of the car was not hurt.

No charges had been placed and the accident remained under investigation.
