Hunter killed by train near Whiskey Bottom Road

A hunter was struck and killed by a Maryland Rail Commuter train yesterday as he walked along the tracks with a friend, county police said.

Christopher Wayne Schildt, 18, of the first block of Frances St. in Laurel, was killed instantly by the southbound train, police said.

The accident occurred about 4:15 p.m. at the CSX tracks near Whiskey Bottom Road. The other hunter was not injured, police said.

* Jessup: 10800 block of Guilford Road: Someone tried to steal a 1990 Chevrolet Beretta Sunday.

8600 block of U.S. 1: Someone broke through a front glass door at a Subway shop and pried open a cash register early Monday morning, but nothing was taken.
