Police talk armed man out of suicide

November 01, 1994

A man armed with a rifle was taken to North Arundel Hospital Friday after police talked him out of committing suicide, authorities said.

Richard Kenneth Hasenei, 28, of the 8600 block of Machias Harbour remained at the hospital over the weekend and was being evaluated yesterday, a hospital spokeswoman said.

A friend of Mr. Hasenei's called police about 7 p.m. and said Mr. Hasenei was depressed and threatening suicide, police said. Officers went to the address, looked through a window and saw Mr. Hasenei sitting on a couch holding a rifle. The officers then called for negotiators, police said.
