A Royall dining experience awaits you at Towson shop

If your daily travels take you onto York Road north of Towson, there's good news on the gustatory front. The new Taylor Royall Catering & Carryout Cuisine shop is a great place to grab a salad or a helping of spanakopita for lunch, or to pick up some tiramisu for dessert. The shop is packed with specialty food and gift items, including pastas and herb blends, biscotti, flowers, cookbooks, and ceramic pigs. Betsy Royall, owner with her mother Martha Royall, says the shop plans to stock a number of made-in-Maryland items that will make great additions to the shop's gift baskets.

Hours are 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday. The address is 903 York Road, and the phone is (410) 321-6872.

Place-name pasta

Here's a delicious way to learn Italian geography: International Gourmet Specialties Co., a unit of Borden, has just introduced a line of 10 authentic Italian pasta varieties under its Classico label. Each pasta is characteristic of a particular region. Some of the varieties are fusilli di Sicilia; fettuccine di Roma; capellini d'Amalfi; and linguine di Liguria.

The pasta, which costs about $1.59 per box, is made at Borden's Albadoro plant near Milan. It's available at Giant and Safeway, among other stores.
