George Contee Moore

George Contee Moore, a retired teacher of biological sciences, died Sunday of lymphoma at Deaton Specialty Hospital and Home. The Baltimore resident was 43.

He retired in 1991 because of illness. He joined the Baltimore public school system in 1976.

In 1991, he received a Congressional Achievement Award for outstanding performance as a teacher and a certificate of merit from Mayor Kurt L. Schmoke.

The Baltimore native was a member of both New Psalmist Baptist Church and Christ Edmondson United Methodist Church, Edmondson Avenue and Grantley Road, where services were set for 10:30 a.m. today .

He is survived by a brother, Warren Moore of New York City; a sister, Freda Moore-Mason of Baltimore; and several nephews and nieces.
