Taneytown man hurt as motorcycle hits deer

A 28-year-old Taneytown man was injured when the motorcycle he was riding struck a deer on Route 140 near Hughes Shop Road Tuesday night, state police said.

David A. Nevelle was treated at Carroll County General Hospital and released, state police said.

Investigators said Mr. Nevelle was riding a 1979 Honda CBX Super Sport Motorcycle toward Taneytown about 11:15 p.m. when a large deer bolted across the highway into the bike's path.

7+ The deer was killed, state police said.

* Westminster: A Glen Burnie resident reported someone stole her 1986 Oldsmobile, valued at $3,600, from the campus of Western Maryland College on Wednesday. The vehicle was recovered at the Community Pond on Route 140, less than one mile away.

A resident of Madison Street told police someone broke the front window of his home Wednesday. He estimated the damage at $100.

A resident of East Main Street reported someone broke the side mirror on his auto Tuesday. He estimated the damage at $100.

A resident of Johahn Drive told police someone entered her house and stole a watch Tuesday. Investigators said the watch was recovered.
