PERRYMAN -- One person was killed and two others were seriously injured when the car they were riding in early today crashed into a utility pole, according to state police reports.

Police at the Benson Barracks said Clair Bullock, 23, of Thornberry Road in Edgewood, was driving a 1987 Toyota southbound on Perryman Road near Michaelsville Road around 12:30 a.m. when she left the roadway and drove onto the shoulder.

She then steered the car back on to the southbound lane, crossed into the opposite lane and crashed into a utility pole, striking it on the passenger's side.

Ms. Bullock and two passengers, Linda Clark, 23, of the 800 block of St. George's Court, Edgewood, and Sean Hagerty, 25, who lived with Ms. Clark, were all flown by helicopter to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where Ms. Clark died and the other two were admitted in serious condition.

Police said speed and the possible use of alcohol contributed to the accident and that charges against Ms. Bullock were pending.
