October 27, 1994

A Glen Burnie man was jumped and beaten Tuesday night by three youths who tried to steal his mountain bicycle, county police said yesterday.

Patrick Darrell Docherty, 20, was treated by paramedics for cuts and bruises after the incident but did not go to the hospital, police said.

Mr. Docherty told police he was riding his blue, 26-inch bicycle on the B&A Trail near Marley Station about 10 p.m. when three youths approached him.

One of them said he wanted the bicycle and began punching him, Mr. Docherty told police. Another youth tried to grab the bicycle. The victim was on the ground being struck by all three youths when two women happened upon the scene and the assailants fled north on the trail.

Northern District officers searched the area but could not find the assailants, police said.

Man is robbed by 2 who ride off on bikes

A Glen Burnie man was robbed at gunpoint Tuesday night by two men on bicycles who rode up to him as he sat next to a laundry room of the Valley Brook Apartments in the 100 block of Faywood Drive, county police said yesterday.

Richard Lemuel Kelly, 21, told police that two men on black bicycles rode up to him around 10 p.m. One of them pulled out a large, dark revolver and ordered Mr. Kelly to hand over his money.

Mr. Kelly gave the gunman $50. The second man pulled out a silver, butterfly knife and also demanded money, but the victim said he had no more, police said.

The gunman then cocked the pistol, put it to Mr. Kelly's head and warned him not to report the robbery to police. Both assailants then rode off, police said.
