A Pasadena man was arrested outside the Loft bar Monday morning and charged with carrying a handgun, police said.

The owner of the bar in the 7800 block of Harbor Road, Bayside Beach, called police about 1:30 a.m. and told them one of his customers might have a gun. Officers arrived and found the owner and the customer standing outside the bar, police said.

The customer admitted having a gun and showed the officers his permit. Officers noted the permit's restrictions only allowed the customer to carry the gun between his home and his business at East Coast Entertainment Properties Inc., and only while doing normal business activities, police said.

Harry Christopher Lewis, 35, of the 7800 block of Harbor Road was then arrested and charged with carrying a handgun. The gun was a fully loaded .38-caliber revolver, police said.

Woman charged in shoplifting

County police arrested a Baltimore woman Sunday afternoon after she allegedly tried to steal more than $330 worth of clothes from a Hecht's department store, authorities said.

A store security officer told police that he saw a woman take nine pieces of clothing from the sportswear department and go into a dressing room about 3:30 p.m. About 10 minutes later, the woman left the dressing room, carrying only four items, police said.

The security officer checked the dressing room to make sure it was empty, then stopped the woman as she left the store, located in the 7800 block of Ritchie Highway. The merchandise was hidden in the suspect's purse and also inside her pants, police said.

Leslie Janell Mahan, 32, of the 300 block of Norris St. was charged with theft over $300, police said.
