Armed robbers strike twice in Ellicott City

October 26, 1994|By From Staff Reports

Howard County police were investigating two apparently unrelated armed robberies in Ellicott City yesterday.

About 3 p.m., a man with a gun entered the rental office of the Great Oaks Apartments in the 3000 block of Autumn Branch Lane near U.S. 40 and demanded money, police said.

An employee in the office was locked in a bathroom after handing over cash, said Sgt. Steve Keller, a spokesman for the Howard County police.

Fifteen to 20 minutes later, a man brandishing a handgun robbed the Revisions Design Center in the 9200 block of Old Annapolis Road near Centennial Park, police reported.

Witnesses told police that the man entered the business, showed the gun, took an undisclosed amount of cash and ran.
