Catonsville man shoots himself while hunting

October 25, 1994

A 45-year-old Catonsville man, who accidentally shot himself in the right foot with a muzzle-loader rifle Saturday, remained in good condition at the Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore yesterday.

John Clinton Tasker was hunting in the Taneytown area and had his rifle resting on a nail. He tried to remove the rifle from the nail when it discharged, striking him in the right foot, said Bob Graham, spokesman for the Maryland Department of Natural Resources Police.

The victim walked about 200 yards to a road, where he was able to flag down a passing motorist.

Mr. Tasker was taken to Carroll County General Hospital and transferred to the trauma center.
