Gang emerges from woods to rob and attack man, 57

October 25, 1994

A Pasadena man was beaten and robbed Friday afternoon as he waited for a friend in Queenstown Park, county police said yesterday.

William Allen Harvey, 57, was treated at North Arundel Hospital for bruises on his face and released. Mr. Harvey was waiting for his friend about 4:30 p.m. when he got out of his car and started a conversation with two other men, police said.

About 10 men, all wearing black clothes and hoods, came out of the woods and walked up to the three men. One of the men who emerged from the woods punched Mr. Harvey in the face and knocked him to the ground. While the victim was down, the man went through his pockets and demanded his money. Mr. Harvey gave the man a plastic identification holder that contained $220, police said.

Mr. Harvey told police that the other two men were robbed and beaten also. Western District officers who went to the park after Mr. Harvey reported the assault could not find the other victims, the suspect or witnesses to the incident, police said.
