Police find man fatally shot in park

October 24, 1994

BALTIMORE -- The body of a West Baltimore man in his mid-30s was found lying on a roadway inside Leakin Park early this morning and police were attempting to locate his relatives before releasing his name.

Homicide detective Oscar Requer said Southwestern District police were near the 1000 block of Winans Way about 12:30 a.m. today when they heard at least one gunshot coming from the park entrance.

Arriving at the scene, the officers found the man lying in the street and bleeding from a gunshot wound to the head. He was pronounced dead at the scene by an ambulance crew.

Detective Requer said it appeared the man was shot at the scene after being forced out of a vehicle. A motive for the shooting was not known and police had no suspects.
