Siblings charged in attempted theft of trucks

A Glen Burnie man and his sister were arrested Wednesday morning on drug and theft charges after police said they caught a man trying to steal a truck on a dealer's lot.

A security guard at Ritchie Nissan in the 7200 block of Ritchie Highway detained a man he found in a 1994 Nissan truck shortly after 2 a.m. The man had apparently pried and broken a window lock to get in, police said.

A Northern District officer arrived and searched the man. He found a bag containing eight pieces of crack cocaine, $195 and three bolts used to secure the seat of the Nissan, police said. A pair of black leather gloves, a pry bar and a ratchet and socket were recovered from the glove compartment, police said.

After police arrested the man, he asked them to go to the nearby lot and tell his sister. Officers found her in a 1989 Nissan truck with an open tool box in the bed, they said. When she got out of the car at their request, they found a 10-inch knife in a black sheath on the driver's seat, police said.

Gilbert Charles Cuffey Jr., 20, of the first block of Old Farm Road was charged with possession of cocaine, possession with intent to distribute cocaine, attempted theft, conspiracy to commit theft and destruction of property.

Nicole Renee Woody, 18, of the 200 block of Crain Highway was charged with possession of a deadly and dangerous weapon, attempted theft and conspiracy to commit theft, police said.

Deale man charged in domestic dispute

A Deale man was arrested Wednesday night and charged with threatening to kill his wife, county police said.

Cpl. Donald Pearson and another officer went to the couple's home shortly before 10:30 p.m. after a woman called and said her husband had threatened to shoot her to death.

When officers could not find the man, they broadcast an alert for his pickup truck.

Officer Robert Lose found the truck on the parking lot of the Happy Harbor Bar at Rockhold Creek Road and Deale Road about 30 minutes later.

Officer Lose opened an unlocked door and removed a loaded 12-gauge shotgun from behind the driver's seat, police said. Officer Lose and two other patrol men found the suspect inside the bar and arrested him, police said.

Emory Richard Smith, 46, of the 600 block of Charles Road was charged with assault with intent to kill. His wife, Shirley Lee Smith, 49, was unharmed, police said.

Couple arrested on drug charges

A Severna Park couple was arrested on drug charges Thursday night after Eastern District detectives raided their home and seized paraphernalia with the residue of a substance that field-tested positive for cocaine, county police said.

Narcotics detectives raided the house shortly before 11 p.m. They found the drug paraphernalia in the master bedroom, police said.

Raymond Patrick Roche, 46, and Rita Anne Roche, 39, of the 100 block of Creston Road were both charged with possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia, police said.

Man steals motorcycle from locked shed

A Green Haven woman heard a noise outside her house early Thursday morning and saw a man ride off on her $1,500 motorcycle, Eastern District police said.

Shirly Annette Tamburo, 37, said she was awakened by the noise about 3 a.m. She looked out and saw a man pushing her 1990 Suzuki down the driveway and onto the street. The man started the motorcycle and rode off on it, police said.

The motorcycle was kept in a locked shed in Ms. Tamburo's fenced back yard.

Ms. Tamburo found the hasp of the shed's lock pried off and the shed doors open, police said.
