Man sought in rape of Towson lawyer

Baltimore County police issued an arrest warrant yesterday for a 26-year-old East Baltimore man in connection with the Oct. 14 assault and rape of a lawyer inside her Towson office building.

Arthur Christian Rogers of the 1600 block of N. Milton Ave. was named in the warrant after the 26-year-old rape victim identified a photograph, police said.

Investigators were able to narrow their search after a composite drawing of the suspect was shown in the local news media. Police say Mr. Rogers is about 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighs about 150 pounds.

He also may have been involved in the Oct. 4 rape of a 37-year-old lawyer in a Pikesville office park, police said.

The two rapes, along with reports that a rapist has been prowling the halls of Towson office buildings after hours, looking for women working alone, have spread fear among office workers and prompted building owners to take security measures such as installing peep holes in doors and hiring security guards.

Police said that in both rapes, the attacker entered through an unlocked door and told the victim that he had a knife or gun but did not display a weapon.

Police are urging anyone with information on the whereabouts of Arthur Christian Rogers to call the department at 887-2198.
