Savage gas station robbed of cash and cigarettes

A man robbed a Savage gas station early yesterday morning of an unknown amount of cash and a carton of cigarettes.

The man entered Gallagher's Amoco in the 8800 block of Baltimore-Washington Blvd. about 1 a.m. and threatened the clerk with a handgun, demanded money and cigarettes, and then ran away, police said. Police described the suspect as black, 5 feet 8, 175 pounds, and wearing a gray hooded sweat shirt and a baseball cap.

* Jessup: 8300 block of Sherwick Court: An officer responded to an alarm at the Re-nu Body Shop Tuesday at about 2 a.m. and found the front door pried open. A safe containing cash and checks was taken.

* North Laurel: 9300 block of Davis Avenue: Someone entered a fenced-in yard at Truck and Trailer Systems and cut the lock off of a storage shed. A lawn mower and scrap metal were taken, police said.
