Barry finds backers in Baltimore

Washington, D.C., mayoral candidate Marion S. Barry Jr. took his show on the road last evening, traveling to Baltimore for a $100-a-head fund-raiser attended by a host of city politicians.

The Urban Textile Group Inc., a Washington-based clothing company headed by Erik J. Rucker, sponsored the event at the Forum in Northwest Baltimore. About 450 people attended, Mr. Rucker said.

The company is currently negotiating with Baltimore officials to acquire the Waverly Inc. property at 428 E. Preston St. and open a clothing manufacturing plant there.
