Police dog tracks down 2 suspects

Bubba, a county police dog, sniffed out two suspects in separate incidents over the weekend, police said yesterday.

Saturday, Officer Lawrence O'Connor was on patrol shortly before 2 a.m. when he saw a 1976 Oldsmobile speeding south on Telegraph Road. He followed and found the car on the shoulder of the road.

Bubba led the officer into the woods to a man who was then arrested.

John Morris Brady, Jr., 27, of the 8300 block of Deer Run Court was charged with driving without a license and fleeing police.

Sunday night, the dog helped Western District officers arrest a ,, suspect in the attempted robbery of wood from a house under construction.

About 8:30 p.m., police received reports of a theft in progress in the Severn Crossing subdivision off Burns Crossing Road.

Officer O'Connor arrived shortly afterward with Bubba, who tracked from the bed of the pickup truck into the woods. Police charged Kevin Lee Miller, 23, of the 1500 block of Henryton Road, Marriottsville, with theft under $300.
