Shop for crafts at holiday fair at Arundel High

Arundel Senior High is sponsoring an Arundel Holiday Craft Fair from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., rain or shine, Dec. 10. The Arundel Band will sell food in the cafeteria. Key Club members will provide child care in the Kids' Room for children ages 1 to 6.

The North Arundel Hospital Odenton Medical Center is sponsoring a comprehensive health fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. The fair will include screenings for blood pressure, cholesterol, colorectal, skin cancer, lung disease, foot problems, flexibility, hearing, diabetes, scoliosis, prostate problems and breast cancer.

Screenings will be performed by physicians associated with Odenton Medical Center and health care professionals from North Arundel Hospital.

The center's radiology and rehabilitation clinics and its pharmacy have opened recently and will have displays at the fair. Odenton Medical Center is at 1215 Annapolis Blvd. -- Route 175 -- in Odenton. For more details, call 787-4367.


North Arundel Health System's Healthline Service has added an 800 number for people outside the local telephone exchange. The new toll-free number is 1-800-778-3236. Healthline is a free, 24-hour, seven-day-a-week health information service staffed by a registered nurse who will answer health-related questions. Healthline also has a 900-volume health information library. Information can be mailed to any resident at no cost. A free physician referral service also is available.

The Greater Odenton Improvement Association is holding a candidates forum at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow at the Odenton Volunteer Fire Department. Candidates for state House of Delegates, District 33, County Council District 4, as well as the candidates for county executives, have been invited.

Other candidates may attend and will be announced tomorrow evening. The Odenton Volunteer Fire Department is just east of Fort Meade at 1425 Annapolis Road -- Route 175.


The West Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce will hold its 33rd annual Meet Your Neighbor and Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon at 11:30 p.m. Nov. 3 at the Ramada Hotel BWI Airport. The public is invited.

Awards will be given to the outstanding citizens in west Anne Arundel County. The chamber also will honor its volunteers.

The luncheon will cost $15 per person. Reservations are required by Oct. 31 and may be made by calling the chamber at 410-672-3422.


The O'Malley Flower and Herb Guild will meet from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. tomorrow at O'Malley Senior Center, 1275 Odenton Road in Odenton.

Representatives from the state Mass Transit Administration will be at O'Malley Senior Center from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 28 to take identification pictures of senior citizens eligible for the reduced fare card. To receive the card, you must be 65 or older by the end of the year.
