Congressional candidates to meet in forum

The candidates for Maryland's 3rd and 6th congressional districts will be answering questions presented by a citizen moderator at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow at the Howard County Public School System Central Offices, Board Room A and B, 10910 Route 108 in Ellicott City.

The League of Women Voters is sponsoring the event, which will feature 6th District challenger Paul Muldowney and incumbent Rep. Roscoe Bartlett. Many voters also have expressed interest in hearing from 3rd District candidates Rep. Ben Cardin and Bob Tousey.

Business group endorses Democrat in District 13

Del. Virginia Thomas, the Democratic nominee for the District 13 state Senate seat, has been endorsed by the Howard County Business and Commerce Political Action Committee.

Delegate Thomas also was recently endorsed by the Prince George's County Educators' Association, the Howard County Education Association and the Maryland Nurses Association.

Candidates for county, state seats to speak

The Columbia villages of Dorsey's Search, Harper's Choice, Hickory Ridge, River Hill, Town Center and Wilde Lake are sponsoring a candidates forum at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 27 at 5430 Vantage Point Road in Columbia.

Candidates for county executive, County Council, state Senate and the House of Delegates are expected to attend. This forum will give attendees an opportunity to ask the candidates questions and listen to their views on various topics.

Refreshments will be served after the forum.

Housing Alliance plans a public forum

The Howard County Housing Alliance will hold a public forum for Howard County's political candidates to present their positions on low- and moderate-income housing at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Michael Spear Center, Rouse Co. Building, Little Patuxent Parkway, Columbia. Information: 841-5840.

District 12 candidates to answer questions

District 12 state Senate candidates Edward J. Kasemeyer and David P. Maier will meet in a public forum at 7 p.m. Oct. 25 in Arbutus. The new district includes southwest Baltimore County, parts of Ellicott City, Columbia, Elkridge and western Howard County.

Each candidate will introduce himself and tell why he should be elected, then answer questions in an open forum.

The forum, sponsored by United We Stand America of Maryland, will be held at the Arbutus Library, 1581 Sulphur Spring Road.

Glendening, Sauerbrey to discuss disabilities

More than 40 disability groups, including the Howard County Commission on Disability Issues, will co-sponsor Maryland's second Gubernatorial Candidates Forum on Disability Issues at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the Hyatt Regency Inner Harbor, 300 Light St., Baltimore.

The two gubernatorial candidates, Parris N. Glendening and Ellen R. Sauerbrey, will participate.

Executive candidate to hold town meeting

Susan Gray, candidate for Howard County executive, will hold a town meeting at 7 p.m. Oct. 28 at the Wilde Lake Interfaith Center, 10431 Twin Rivers Road, Columbia.

The forum will allow residents to voice their concerns.
