LWV plans candidates' forum

The League of Women Voters will sponsor a Candidates' Forum Thursday in the County Council chambers on the lower level of the courthouse, Main Street, Bel Air.

The audience will be able to submit questions of candidates for council president from 7 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Candidates Theresa M. Pierno, a Democrat, and Joanne S. Parrott, a Republican, will answer questions posed by the league and the audience from 7:30 p.m. to 8:10 p.m.

Then, each candidate will be introduced by a moderator and will be allowed three minutes to make a statement about her candidacy and two minutes to respond to statements by the opponent.

Community group to sponsor forum

The Riverside Community Association will sponsor a candidates' forum at 7 p.m. Oct. 24 at the Riverside Community Center, 1 Church Creek Drive.

Primary winners for the offices of county executive, County Council president and County Council have been invited.

ARC to hold candidates forum

The ARC of Harford County, an association for retarded citizens, will present a candidates' forum from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at 4513 Philadelphia Road, in Aberdeen.

Candidates for the offices of governor, state Senate in Districts 34 and 35A, House of Delegates in Districts 34 and 35A, and county executive will address issues affecting persons with disabilities, their families and community advocates.

Ashtin Golt Band to perform at benefit

"Ashtin Golt Showtime -- The Big Time, Good Time, Showtime Band" will present a concert to benefit Theresa Pierno, Democratic candidate for County Council president, from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Oct. 30 at the Harford Mall Food Court, in Bel Air.

Tickets, at $20 each, will be available at the door. They include snacks and dessert. Halloween costumes are optional and a cash bar will be available.

The show will feature impressions of some of the biggest names of each rock era, along with the most memorable dance hits.

Guest for the evening will be Gerry L. Brewster, candidate for Congress.

Sheriff to hold Halloween event

Sheriff Robert E. Comes' third annual Halloween Party/Dinner Dance is scheduled from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday at the American Legion Post 39, 500 Conowingo Road, Bel Air.

Tickets are $30 in advance and $35 at the door.

Costumes are optional.

Town meeting set for Oct. 24

The state's attorney's office of Harford County and the Maryland Coalition for a Constitutional Amendment will sponsor a town meeting at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 24, at John Carroll School, 703 Churchville Road, Bel Air.

Participants will receive information regarding ballot Question 1 -- the constitutional amendment for crime victims' rights.

Decker committee to hold brunch

The committee to elect Mark S. Decker, Republican candidate for County Council in District C, will sponsor a campaign brunch from noon to 3 p.m. Oct 23 at the Maryland Golf and Country Club, MacPhail Road, Bel Air.

Fallston group plans general meeting

The Greater Fallston Association will conduct a general meeting at 7 p.m. Nov. 1 at Grandview Christian Church, Route 152 and Pleasantville Road.
