Wayne DeFrancesco, teaching professional at Woodholme Country Club, birdied the first playoff hole to defeat Chip Sullivan, of Salem, Va., and capture the Middle Atlantic PGA's Tournament of Champions at Old South Country Club in Lothian yesterday.
Sullivan, an assistant pro at Hanging Rock Golf Club, had closed with a 70 to tie for the lead at 145.
MSGA two-woman team
Sheila Dagucon birdied two of the last three holes, and she and partner Sharon Briggs won the inaugural event, sponsored and conducted by the Maryland State Golf Association at Walden Country Club in Crofton.
