Sun Valley center bank held up by lone robber

October 12, 1994

The Maryland National Bank at the Sun Valley Shopping Center in the 7900 block of Baltimore-Annapolis Blvd. was robbed yesterday, authorities said.

A man walked up to a teller's window about 10:30 a.m. and presented a handwritten note demanding money. He told the teller he had a gun but never displayed one, police said. The teller gave an undisclosed amount of money to the man, who then fled, authorities said.

Customers in the bank at the time did not realize what had happened, police said, and no one was injured.

The robber was described as a thin, black male, 30 to 35 years old, about 5 feet 6 inches tall, unshaven, with brown eyes, black hair and a mustache. He wore a red beanie or beret-type hat, a brown plaid wool jacket and carried a red cloth bag, authorities said.
