* The volunteer firefighters aren't taking any time off between events.

Their Fireman's Auction and Dance will be held from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. Saturday at the fire hall on Route 424.

The auction will be held for two hours starting at 8 p.m.

The dance begins right after the auction.

Tickets for the entire night are $10. Tickets for the dance are $5 per person. Beer, wine, set-ups and snacks will be provided.

The State Highway Administration will hold a public hearing on truck traffic on Route 424 at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Crofton Middle School.

SHA is considering a ban on heavy trucks along a portion of Route 424 near Crofton.

Citizens Against Truck Traffic on Route 424 has lobbied for a ban, citing safety concerns, noise and air pollution. Truck companies have said the ban would hurt business.

This is expected to be SHA's final public hearing before a decision is announced.

If this subject concerns you, please plan on attending.
