New Windsor council approves almost $10,000 for road repairs

Crews will begin to repair several New Windsor streets within a month. The Town Council approved almost $10,000 for the roads projects and awarded contracts to two companies Wednesday.

The town accepted bids from Freestate Paving of Lineboro for:

* Resurfacing Manning Alley, from Route 75 to Main Street, at a cost of $6,200.

* Repairing an 18-square-foot area on Hillside Drive where the road dips. Time and materials costs are budgeted at $2,000.

* Patching Church Street near Brownie Avenue for a per ton price. Mayor Jack Gullo said the most damaged areas of the road will be patched this fall and overlaid next year.

The council also awarded a $960 bid to Double K Concrete of Westminster for repairs to the concrete apron in front of the Fire

FIRE

* Taneytown: Taneytown responded to an auto fire on Route 140 near Mayberry Road at 9:47 p.m. Thursday. Units were out for 16 minutes.
