Perfect start for Edgewood's Hasselbarth

Mark Hasselbarth is a 27-year-old tenpin bowler who started bowling just three years ago.

Glenn English, manager at Brunswick Perry Hall, has been

keeping an eye on one of the young bowlers, Keith Butt.

"He's bowling just great right now," English said, "Especially for a youngster in his first year in the adult leagues."

On Sept. 21, Butt bowled games of 270, 267 and 268 for a 805 series.

Meet a former Oriole

Youngsters in the Baltimore area can sign up for a duckpin bowling league at Fair Lanes Westview on Saturday, and meet former Orioles center fielder Paul Blair.Blair will be at the Westview center from noon to 2 p.m.

Blair is a tenpin bowler but Saturday is one day that he might throw a few duckpin balls.

Tournament news

A duckpin Youth Pro-Am will be conducted Sunday, Oct. 30 at Fair Lanes Westview with squad times at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.

The Senior Pro-Am will be at Westview at 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 3.

This week, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, the Duckpin Bowlers Tour will be at Fair Lanes Owings Mills. It's a singles event with a

After school at Fair Lanes

All Fair Lanes centers have after-school programs in which youths bowl two games with a coach on hand. Parents can pick up the children between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m.

There will be Stars of the Month, a Halloween time, a Christmas party and a Thanksgiving Day Tournament for parents and children.
