Hospital supervisor

Viola B. Wright, a retired hospital supervisor, died Sunday of cancer at her Northeast Baltimore home. She was 69.

She retired from then-Mercy Hospital in 1987 after 25 years as a dietary supervisor. Earlier, she was an elevator operator in a downtown department store.

A native of Warfield, Va., the former Viola B. Hicks moved to Baltimore in the early 1950s.

Her husband, Bruce T. Wright, died in 1964.

She was a member for 36 years of Southern Baptist Church, 1701 N. Chester St., where services were set for 5 p.m. today.

Survivors include a daughter, Veronica Wright of Columbia; a son, Larry Wright of San Francisco; seven sisters, Margaret McCall and Edith Hicks, both of Baltimore, Grace Fisher of Pittsburgh, Ardelle Greene of Albany, N.Y., Mary Cooks of Boston, Mamie McCoy of Arlington, Va., and Virginia Hill of Warfield; and three brothers, Joseph Hicks of Woodford, Va., Robert Hicks of Petersburg, Va., and James Hicks of Lawrenceville, Va.
