Nhl Players Reject Proposal

Pessimism about saving the full National Hockey League season set in among negotiators yesterday after the players' association rejected two contract proposals from the league containing significant compromises.

Bob Goodenow, the union's executive director, said he would assemble a counterproposal "within the next couple of days."
