Woman receives gash while slam dancing

October 05, 1994

An Annapolis woman received a 2-inch slash to her right thigh Saturday night as she was slam dancing at a party in Crownsville, county police said yesterday.

Kara Elizabeth Gibbons, 18, sought treatment Sunday night at Anne Arundel Medical Center, where she reported the incident to county police. She delayed seeking treatment and reporting the incident because she didn't feel the wound was serious, police said.

Ms. Gibbons said she was cut while dancing at the party in the 1700 block of Generals Highway around 11 p.m. Saturday. She said she did not see who cut her -- and did not even realize she was injured -- until she had walked away from the dancers, according to police.

A party at the same house Sept. 23 was closed down by police because several juveniles there were under the influence of alcohol or drugs, authorities said.
